NOAA42 will conduct a third EMC-tasked mission into Tropical Storm Humberto on 15 September, departing Lakeland around 5 pm EDT (2100 UTC) and returning there 4.5 hours later. The aircraft will sample Humberto in a butterfly pattern, and possibly gather data during an overpass of the Atmospheric Dynamics Mission Aeolus satellite to help validate its data.
In addition, NOAA49 will ferry to Barbados to get ready for research missions into the wave currently crossing the central Atlantic. the missions will involve tropical cyclogenesis and NESDIS satellite verification studies.
