NOAA’s P3 hurricane hunter aircraft will fly around Matthew

The P3 will fly a synoptic surveillance mission around Matthew. These types of flights are usually performed by the G-IV. The jet is down for maintenance therefore the P3 will fly around Matthew. It will sample the atmospheric environment ahead of Matthew. NOAA43 will take off around 1:30 AM  (0530 UTC) from MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa, FL. Below is the proposed flight track. The dots indicate where the P3 will launch dropwindsondes.
