The P3 aircraft flies again in the East Pacific into Tropical Storm Javier

The P3 hurricane hunter aircraft will fly again into Tropical Storm Javier. They will take off at 1:00AM central time from Harlingen, TX for an eight hour mission. The science objective of this flight is to collect data with the Doppler Wind Lidar instrument. The Lidar can collect wind speed data in areas of thin or broken clouds. Below is the flight track. The dots on the flight track (shown in green) represent the aircraft turn points. The red dots in the figure show the locations that launch weather balloons twice a day while the purple dots are the locations that launch balloons once a day.
