Its an early morning flight for the G-IV jet into Joaquin

The G-IV is on the tarmac preparing to fly another synoptic surveillance mission. It will take-off around 0530 UTC (1:30AM local) from MacDill Air Force Base, Tampa, FL for an eight hour mission. The jet will fly around Hurricane Joaquin and will continue to sample the upper/mid-level trough over the northeastern Gulf of Mexico and the area just offshore the Carolinas. Here is the proposed G-IV flight track. The dots along the flight track indicate the dropwindsonde launch locations.
