HRD scientists participate in IWTC-8 and IWTCLP-3, Jeju, Republic of Korea – 2-10 December 2014

Drs. Robert Rogers and Sundararaman Gopalakrishnan represented HRD at the Eighth International Workshop on Tropical Cyclones (IWTC-8, Dec. 1-6) and the Third International Workshop on Tropical Cyclone Landfall Processes (IWTCLP-3, Dec. 8-10) sponsored by the World Meteorological Organization (WMO).  Dr. Rogers serves as the lead of the Working Group on Tropical Cyclone Landfall Processes. The program is available at http://www.iwtc8.org/sub02/sub02_01.php. Rapporteur reports and the list of participants is available at http://www.iwtc8.org/bbs/board.php?tbl=news.

One of the key outcomes from these workshops is the generation of recommendations, which are formal statements from the IWTC directed at either the WMO, forecast agencies, or research community that aim to foster greater interaction between researchers and forecasters and advance forecast capabilities. A number of recommendations were decided on during this IWTC/IWTCLP.
