HRD and other NOAA scientists participate in NASA Hurricane and Severe Storm Sentinel (HS3) Project

Robert Rogers and Jason Dunion are members of the NASA’s HS3 Science Team and are involved with coordination and flight planning for HS3 Global Hawk Missions with NOAA P-3 and G-IV hurricane research and operational missions. Michael Black and a number of other HRD and NOAA scientists are involved in the collection and analysis of dropsondes dropped from the NASA Global Hawk as part of HS3. Black and colleagues are providing quality control of the dropsonde data in real time and relaying it directly to the global modeling centers for use in improving forecast guidance.
